Australian Deputy Ambassador Gita Kamath joined national and local partners in Palembang to celebrate the achievements of the PERINTIS sanitation initiative.
Deputy Ambassador of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Gita Kamath, visited Palembang, South Sumatra, together with the Deputy of Infrastructure Bappenas, representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Health, and the South Sumatra Provincial government to celebrate the achievements of the Inclusive Community Empowerment for Sanitation (PERINTIS) initiative.
As part of the Palembang City Sanitation Project (PCSP), the PERINTIS activity pioneers support for generating household demand and promoting social marketing for sanitation services. It applies gender-responsive, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to strengthen household and community uptake of improved sanitation infrastructure.
PCSP, a joint Indonesia and Australia effort to modernise the city’s sanitation system, aims to improve public health and the environment in Palembang City through a sustainable municipal wastewater treatment system that is owned, operated and maintained by the City of Palembang.
